Director AJ Egli has been involved in volleyball for over 25 years. He has been a club coach for 18 years. From 2004-2012 with Western Colorado VBC in Grand Junction, where his teams won over 70% of their matches in that 8 year span. In 2001, his team took 5th at Crossroads and then placed 26th in the nation at the Junior Nationals Championship. In 2009, his team placed 19th out of 134 teams at Crossroads in Denver. In 2012, AJ's 16s team went 34-12 on the season, not bad... Winning is nice, but the important part is his girls got better at volleyball. That's what AJ is really about.

AJ has a passion for volleyball and has mentored many coaches and countless young ladies. AJ is IMPACT Certified, Beach IMPACT Certified, CAP accredited through USA Volleyball High Performance Program, and is a NCAA College Referee (RMAC and SWAC).

He has been married for 24 years to his lovely wife, Jennifer. They have a 13 year-old son Zachary.

Coach Doug Merrell started playing competitively in the U.S. Air Force and was on several base level traveling teams and Captain of several base champions. Doug is both IMPACT Certified and CAP Accredited through through USA Volleyball High Performance Program. He has coached middle school, high school and club with both boys and girls over the last 10 years. Also with the 2011 Fruita HS Boys Team that finished 9th in the State. His passion for the game has kept him "hooked" on volleyball for over 23 years. My favorite thing about coaching is watching the girls grow in skill, but even better is watching them make good choices in life.

Doug has been married to his wife Darshan for 26 years. Their daughter, Larisa (Reese) played high school volleyball, club volleyball and went on to play in college for Colorado Mesa University until a knee injury ended her college career. Reese has coached club volleyball, high school volleyball and was a high school coach in Denver. Doug's son, Dylon played club volleyball with the Fruita High School Boys Team.   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Coach Paul Currier felt like he had something to offer to players and parents after his youngest daughter graduated from Club Volleyball in 2012. His passion is to see young people develop great life habits and beliefs that will stand the test of time, and for parents to navigate the ropes of the Club experience while minimizing the trials that his family went through. Additionally, he desires to see the quality of volleyball continuously increase in the region. He is IMPACT certified through through USA Volleyball High Performance Program, and has recently survived the college recruiting process. Parents and players - feel free to quiz him. He is married to his wonderful wife of 30 years, Cheryl. Together they have two grown daughters.

Setting Coach
Jason Obreque
comes to us with a vast deal of experience both on and off the court. He has played both the Setter and Libero positions with different teams at different levels of play from high school through collegiate winning many championships along the way. He developed his love for the game at a very young age from his father and has continued to surround himself with the game in one way or another. Jason has played both in the U.S., as well as having the opportunity to play as a Libero/Setter practice player for the National Argentinian team in 07’. He has been both the lead coach and the assistant coach with various club teams in Nebraska, most notably the Nebraska Elite. “I love that moment when one of your players pulls off a play that we have been practicing, in a game, and looks over to you on the bench with a huge smile as if to say “Nailed it”; makes all the hard work, time and effort put in, worth it.”
